Dr. Roland "Butch" and Judy Wohlin
Horseman & Horsewoman of the Year

Dr. Roland and Judy Wohlin. When you hear their name, you are not surprise that they have been named 2006 Horsemen of the Year.

Dr. Roland aka "Butch" and Judy have been raising Quarter Horses for over 35 years.  Purchasing Pocodo Sally, they showed her, earning Superior in Halter and AQHA Championship. They Decided to breed her to Bar Flower, producing Sir Bar Flower.  Sir Bar Flower and Butch earned many State and National awards including 10th place at the American Quarter Horse World Show in Amateur Western Pleasure which earned him the right to become a top Western Pleasure and All Around Sire.  Butch and Judy have not only been successful breeders but, also top showmen.  They enjoy raising colts and watching them turn into great horses in the show arena.

For years the duo would take the offspring they raised to AQHA Shows and Futurities.  Judy was known as the "Trail Queen". She was unbeatable no matter what horse she was showing.  Butch was right there, showing in Western Pleasure, Halter and, might I dare say, he did very well in the Hunter Under Saddle classes!! They have one daughter Joy, who also enjoys being part of the horse industry. Butch and Judy own and operate the Spicer Veterinary Clinic, working on both large and small animals.  Butch has been active in the AQHA and MQHA Associations, serving as MQHA President to the Board of Directors. He now serves as and AQHA National Director.

Judy hasn't been sitting on the sidelines, serving on the MQHA Amateur Board of Directors and numerous committees. Not to mention keeping Butch and Joy on the straight and narrow.  A time came when the Wohlin family had to make a decision. Sir Bar Flower was getting older and Butch and Judy didn't want to end a dream. Deciding to continue raising Quarter Horses, they purchased KC Melody Man. Their love for the American Quarter Horse grows stronger every year.  FFA, 4-H and many school classes have taken a tour of the Spicer Veterinary Clinic and Wohlin Quarter Horses. Butch and Judy want to pass on their knowledge and passion for the animals to the future generations. After a tour, they always make time for some one-on-one time with the kids.

If you are still wondering who Butch and Judy are, here are a couple of clues:
Butch will be wearing on of his famous T-shirts and leading on of the young colts everywhere!!

Judy will be offering cookies to anyone who might look hungry and chasing Joy down to put on the right number before going into a class.

I would like to take this time to introduce Dr. Roland and Judy Wohlin, 2006 Horsemen of the Year!!

Dr. Roland (Butch) & Judy Wohlin have been raising and showing Quarter Horses for over 30 years. They also own and operate the Spicer Veterinary Clinic which deals with both small and large animals.

They started out with the mare Pocodo Sally. Showing her they earned a Superior in Halter and AQHA Championship. They then bred her to Bar Flower which produced Sir Bar Flower. Sir Bar Flower was trained exclusively by Butch and won many awards, titles and points. He earned over 350 AQHA points in 8 events and qualified for the AQHA World Show the three years he was shown. Sir Bar Flower placed 10th at the Quarter Horse World show in Amateur Western Pleasure as a 3 year old. This was the beginning of the legacy of the Wohlin Quarter Horses.

Their daughter Joy got an early start, beginning in lead line at the age of 3!! As a youth she showed different all-around horses earning many State and National awards. Now an Amateur  she still enjoys showing the all-around events and has added Futurity Champions to her lists of winnings.

Having retired Sir Bar Flower, a replacement was needed. KC Melody Man was just what they were looking for; his bloodlines were impeccable. Having a World Champion Sire (Kay Cee Leaguer) and a World Champion producing Dam (Beckys Melody), KC will continue the legacy. A few of Sir Bar Flowers daughters have been kept back for the breeding program as well as other great mares that were  selected for the start up of Wohlin Quarter Horses. Breeding, training, showing and selling their own horses is what makes Wohlin Quarter Horses so unique.
